Recently, the AEON project coordinator has been interviewed by the Aerospace Testing International (ATI) magazine, an online journal that presents publications dedicated to the application of testing, evaluation, and inspection in the aviation industry.
The Consortium member described how AEON aims to innovate airport ground movements with a greener concept of operations that integrates electric or hybrid tugs, e-taxi systems and a control program embedded in the cockpit.
The AEON project has been presented as part of a broader attempt of the research community to reduce the climate impact of aviation through the usage of operational solutions alongside technical ones. Indeed, according to the ATI report, 11% of aviation emissions could be reduced by combining such types of solutions.
